Basic Situation of Aluminum Processing and Aluminum Products Industry in China

(1) Aluminum production accounts for more than half of the world

According to statistics, China's aluminum production in 2021 will be 44.7 million tons, an increase of 6.2% over the previous year, accounting for about 60% of the global aluminum production, ranking first in the world for 16 consecutive years, and the compound annual growth rate since 2001 has reached 13.6%.

(2) The industry spreads over 29 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities

Aluminum has a high industrial relevance and a wide range of applications, and it has a strong driving effect on economic development. According to statistics, among the 124 industrial sectors in my country, 113 involve aluminum, and the industrial correlation is as high as 91%. Except for Tibet and Hainan, other provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities in my country have aluminum processing and production activities above designated size.

(3) Great economic contribution and many employed people

In 2021, China's aluminum processing industry will realize operating income of 1,390.3 billion yuan, an increase of 32.7% over the previous year; the tax paid to the state is estimated to exceed 50 billion yuan. As of the end of 2021, the total assets of the entire industry will be 981.1 billion yuan, and there will be 2,849 enterprises above the designated size, with more than 500,000 direct employees, driving millions of indirect employees.

Main characteristics of China's aluminum and aluminum products exports

1. There are fewer high-end products. There are few high-end products with high technology content and high added value in China's export of aluminum materials and aluminum products. For example, although cans and can lids have been exported in batches for many years, the total volume is not satisfactory; aviation aluminum, automobile body sheets, and power battery aluminum foil are basically not exported.

2. The export market is widely distributed. In 2021, China's aluminum export destination countries and regions will reach 213, of which the total export volume of the top 10 countries is 2.81 million tons, accounting for 51.5% of the total export volume; the total export volume of the top 20 countries is 3.91 million tons, accounting for The total export volume of the top 30 countries and regions was 4.48 million tons, accounting for 82% of the total export volume.
