Do You Know What Are The "Physical Examination Items" For Aluminum Cans? (Part 1)

Jun 12th,2024 956 Views

Everyone usually likes to drink Coke, but when choosing, many people especially like canned ones, so why is this? It will taste better in aluminum cans, and the carbon dioxide in the aluminum cans will be higher, and the taste of the small bubbles will be more obvious when drinking. Why is the canned carbon dioxide high? Because it is directly related to the packaging material, there are two types of materials for cans: aluminum and tinplate. Today we are going to talk about the testing items of this aluminum can.

Appearance

Perform appearance inspection (visual inspection) on the aluminum cans under natural light, including inspection items such as blemishes and defects. The purpose is to record the physical appearance of the aluminum can to know whether the tank body is smooth, without obvious variegation, scratches, oil stains or other sundries, without pinholes, bends or dents causing damage to the inner coating, and without flanging defects Or cracks, burrs and so on.

Size

The length deviation, width deviation, thickness deviation, etc. shall be within the specified deviation range. You can know the specifications of the aluminum cans you produce, and know whether they meet the technical requirements for sample seals.

Compressive Strength

Under certain conditions, the limit load that aluminum cans can bear. Most of the beverages contained in aluminum cans are carbonated beverages, and the inflation pressure of the aluminum cans will be higher, and it will also be affected by factors such as temperature, transportation, or the thickness of the aluminum material. If the aluminum can itself does not have sufficient compressive strength, there will be deformation or even rupture of the can body, which will affect the quality of the beverage and even endanger people's health and safety, so the compressive strength test is a very important test.

Axial Bearing Pressure

The testing aluminum can is placed on the testing platform and gradually pressurized upwards to the pressure roof. If the pressure limit of the aluminum can is exceeded, the tank will be deformed, and the system will record the maximum bearing pressure value. The axial load-bearing capacity of the can body is closely related to the wall thickness of the tank body. The thicker the aluminum can body wall thickness, the stronger the load-bearing capacity, and vice versa. The axial bearing capacity of the can body provides data reference for the thinning and weight reduction of the can, and the axial bearing capacity of the can body is one of the important performance indicators of the aluminum can.

Coating Quality

The coating film inside the aluminum can should be cured and well adhered. According to the sterilization process requirements of the contents, after pasteurization or high-temperature sterilization at 121°C, there must be no defects such as shedding, discoloration or foaming after the internal and external coating film sterilization tests. For aluminum cans, no matter what kind of substance they contain, it is necessary to consider the coating inside the aluminum can. The function of the inner coating is to protect the inner surface of the aluminum can from the corrosive chemicals contained in the filling of the can.
